The Impotence of Proofreading

Taylor Mali is an English teacher and Slam poet (check out his web site here and his blog here). In graduate school, I was (briefly) a teaching assistant in the English department of a large university. Some of my students' papers were not too far off the mark from Mali's piece (sigh), except they weren't nearly as amusing. If they had been, I might have given the writers a better grade.
